IELTS

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) measures the ability to communicate in English across all four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking - for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.

IELTS is jointly managed by Cambridge ESOL Examinations, The British Council and IDP IELTS Australia.

Since 1989, IELTS has been proven and trusted worldwide to provide a secure, global, authentic and customer-focused examination, which measures true to life ability to communicate in English.

International Recognition

IELTS scores are accepted across Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.

One of the fastest growing English language examinations in the world, over 1.7 million IELTS examinations were taken in 2011 across 120 countries.

UCD Applied Language Centre

Established in 1989, The UCD Applied Language centre is located in the Daedalus Building at the heart of the UCD Belfield, Dublin 4 campus.

The IELTS department at the UCD Applied Language Centre is open Monday to Friday, from 10am to 6pm. 


Please note that the speaking examination can take place on or up to two days before or after the main test date. You must be available during this period. Include a note with your application form if you wish to have your speaking examination on the same day. Please note that this request cannot be guaranteed as places are allocated on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.
